- [1.1] Competitions are held online through zoom
- [1.2] A competitor may be disqualified from one or more events or rounds if :
[1.2.1] they act in a way that is violent , unlawful or indecent
[1.2.2] they do not agree with the delegate
[1.2.3] the delegate wants to
[1.2.4] they do not check in on time or are late
- [1.3] Any competitor may compete in an ECA competition if they :
[1.3.1] are not banned from the ECA
[1.3.2] comply with ECA regulations
- [1.4] While solving , the competitor must have their puzzle visible on the screen . Penalty : Disqualification of the attempt [DNF]
- [1.5] Competitors must not cheat while competing . Penalty : Disqualification of the attempt [DNF] and/or disiplinary action from the ECA
- [1.6] The competitor must be ready to compete or else they forfeit the attempt(s) [DNS] at the discretion of the ECA delegate
- [2.1] Each competitor must supply their own puzzles to compete with
- [2.2] Puzzles may be magnetic or have electronic capabilities that do not give an unfair advantage , at the discretion of the ECA delegate
- [2.3] The puzzle may have multiple logos
- [2.4] Puzzles must be of reasonable wear , at the discretion of the ECA delegate
- [2.5] Concaved or pillowed puzzles are allowed
- [2.6] Stickerless puzzles are permitted
- [2.7] For clock , the following modifications are permitted :
[2.7.1] Custom inserts that show the 12 position
[2.7.2] Logos anywhere on the puzzle that do not cover the inner clock faces
[2.7.3] Tape on the side of the puzzle
[2.7.4] Puzzle design customization that do not give an unfair advantage , at the discretion of the ECA delegate
- [2.8] All brands of puzzzles are permitted , so long as they comply with ECA regulations
- [3.1] Competitors must supply their own hardware
- [3.2] Required hardware :

[3.2.2] Puzzle cover(s)
[3.2.3] Mat
-[3.3] Permitted timers
[3.3.1] Competitors are encouraged to use timers with two elevated sensors (stackmat timers) to time their solve
[3.3.2] All brands of timers are permitted
[3.3.3] Competitors may use a device with a timer (eg: cstimer). If such timer is used , the competitor must use it as if it was a stackmat timer
[3.3.4] Timers must have the time clearly indicated on them
- [3.4] Regulations for puzzle covers
[3.4.1] Any cover that fully covers the puzzle from all sides are allowed
[3.4.2] For clock , an opaque flat object (eg. paper) may be used to cover leaving some sides of the clock exposed , at the discretion of the ECA delegate
- [4.1] Competitors must scramble their puzzles according to a computer generated scramble sequence provided by the ECA delegate
- [4.2] The competitor shows the delegate the scrambled puzzle without looking at it for the delegate to verify .
-[4.3] If the scramble does not match the computer generated scramble , the competitor must correct the puzzle state to match the computer generated scramble
-[4.4] Scramble specifications for each event :
[4.4.1] 2x2x2 Cube : At least 4 moves to be solves
[4.4.2] Other puzzles : At least 2 moves to be solved
- [4.5] All NxNxN cubes are scrambled with white top and green front and clock is scrambled with 12 facing up
- [5.1] Puzzle defects include pieces twisting in place , center caps falling off , pieces popping out of the puzzle
- [5.2] If a puzzle defect occurs , the competitor may fix the puzzle defect or end the solve [DNF] .
[5.2.1] If the puzzle is unsolvable because a corner is twisted in its place , the competitor may twist one corner such that the cube is solvable
[5.2.2] If parts of the puzzle break , the competitor can put the piece back together
[5.2.3] If pieces of the puzzle pop out , the competitor may pop the pieces back into the puzzle
[5.2.4] If a center cap falls off , the competitor may put the center cap back on its spot
- [5.3] If the timer is stopped and a puzzle defect occurs , the puzzle is considered unsolved [DNF]
- [5.4] If the competitor fixed a puzzle defect but later finds the puzzle is unsolvable , the competitor may dissassemble a maximum of 4 pieces in order to make the puzzle solvable again
- [6.1] If an incident occurs , the competitor must consult the ECA delegate
- [6.2] The ECA may give an extra attempt to the competitor
- [7.1] The official ECA events are:
3x3x3 Cube, 2x2x2 Cube,4x4x4 Cube , 5x5x5 Cube, 6x6x6 Cube, 7x7x7 cube, 3x3x3 One-Handed , 3x3x3 Blindfolded , Pyraminx , Skewb , Square-1 , Clock, Quiz

- [A1] When the puzzle is scrambled and the delegate verifies the scramble , the competitor puts the puzzle under the puzzle cover such they cannot see the puzzle . Exception : For clock , the sides of the puzzle may be exposed as long as the competitor cannot see the inner clock faces
- [A2] Inspection phase
[A2.1] When the ECA delegate tells the competitor to start , they take off the puzzle cover.
[A2.2] The ECA delegate measures the time taken for inspection
[A2.3] After 8 seconds of inspecting , the ECA delegate calls out ‘ 8 SECONDS’
[A2.4] After 12 seconds of inspecting , the ECA delegate calls out ‘12 SECONDS’
[A2.5] After 15 seconds of inspecting , the ECA delegate gives a time penalty to the competitor (+2 seconds)
[A2.6] After 17 seconds of inspecting , the ECA delegate stops the competitor and disqualifies the attempt [DNF]
[A2.7] The competitor must not apply moves during the inspection phase. Penalty : Disqualification of the attempt [DNF]
- [A3] Starting the solve
[A3.1] The ECA Delegaye will call for all competitors to put their hands on the timer.The competitor starts the timer by putting both hands on the touch sentitive pads
[A3.2] The competitor must have both hands facing down and use their fingers to start the timer . Penalty : Time Penalty (+2 seconds)
[A3.3] The competitor must not be in contact with the puzzle while starting the timer . Penalty : Time Penalty (+2 seconds)
[A3.4] The competitor must start with the puzzle on the mat . Penalty : the Time Penalty (+2 seconds)
[A3.5] The competitor waits for the green light and when the delegate says “GO”,releases their hands from the timer (thus starting the timer) and starts to solve the puzzle
- [A4] Stopping the solve
[A4.1] The competitor releases the puzzle and returns their hands to the timer to stop the solve
[A4.2] The competitor must not be in contact with the puzzle while stopping the timer . Penalty : Time Penalty (+2 seconds)
[A4.3] The competitor must stop the timer with their palms facing down . Penalty : Time Penalty (+2 seconds)
[A4.4] The competitor must not touch the puzzle after the timer is stopped . Penalty : Time Penalty (+2 seconds) Exeption : For Clock , the competitor may flip the puzzle to ensure that it is solved without penalty
- [A5] If the timer is reset before the ECA delegate can record the time , then the attempt is disqualified [DNF].
- [A6] If the puzzle is not fully solved when the timer is stopped , the following regulations apply .
[A6.1] If the puzzle is one move away from solved , the puzzle is considered solved with a time penalty (+2 seconds)
[A6.2] If the puzzle is more than one move from solved , the puzzle is considered unsolved [DNF]
- [A7] When the time limit is reached , the attempt ends and is disqualified [DNF]
- [B1] The competitor may change pins during inspection
- [B2] The competitor must ensure that the puzzle is solved after the timer is stopped
- [D1] If the competitor googles the answer then they dnf their avg and get banned from the ECA
